So how do we become successful bird launchers?
Do you remember being pregnant? Reading ‘What to Expect When You Are Expecting’ and going to a zillion prenatal check ups? People being excited for you, asking tons of questions and giving loads of (unwanted) advice? It was such a monumental experience, becoming a mom. How did they let you leave the hospital with a newborn? Most of us were filled with excitement, awe and worry.
Many parents would describe parenting as the most important, challenging, time-consuming, and meaningful thing they will ever do.
It is said that the two most difficult times of parenting are when you bring your baby home from the hospital and when your much bigger baby leaves the nest…
Now, here you are, going through that other major life transition and shift and for many of us it’s a confusing and lonely time.
So much comes up: our changing identities and relationships, for many of us our changing bodies, this idea that ‘women of a certain age’ become invisible and lose our value (we are no longer young and sexy and now mothers in a different way).
It’s a little-discussed pitfall of the flown kids: In addition to missing their children, many parents report experiencing confusion and anxiety about their own lives. They feel stuck and unable to plan.
How do we best navigate our changing identities and relationships as the kids stretch their wings and fly off?
I’m helping moms as they travel through the 3 phases of Successful Bird Launching: Grief, Relief and Joy, with the end goal of becoming a Free Bird.
It doesn’t have to be a confusing and lonely time. There is a village - flock - here for you now too in this bird launcher phase.
"What if the best years of your life are yet to come?”
I am here to help moms spread their wings as their little ones leave the nest.
